Professor Imran Ahsan Khan Nyazee is the author of several books.
Among these are: Theories of Islamic Law: the Methodology of Ijtihad (1994);
Islamic Jurisprudence: Usul al-Fiqh (2000); Islamic Law of Business Organisations: Partnerships (1997); Islamic Law of Business Organisations:
Corporations (1998); Outlines of Islamic Jurisprudence (1998); The Concept of Riba and Islamic Banking (1995); General Principles of Criminal
Law: Islamic and Western (1998); Jurisprudence (2007); and Company Law
(2008). He translated Ibn Rushd's Bidayat al-Mujtahid (The Distinguished
Jurists Primer) in 1994 and Abu Ubayd ibn Sallam's Kitab al-Amwal (The
Book of Revenue) in 2002 into English. More recently, he translated the first
two volumes of al-Marghnan's famous book al-Hidayah into English. The
remaining two volumes are under progress.
After a long teaching career in law and Islamic law, Professor Nyazee is
now devoting most of his time to the development of the Advanced Legal
Studies Institute as well as the Centre for Islamic Law and Legal Heritage.
The former institution is devoted to the publication of law books as well as
specialised reports on legislative and legal reform issues. The latter instituation has been established for the preservation and promotion of Islamic law
in English. The Centre will translate the works of the classical jurists into
English with a focus on providing solutions to modern problems. The Centre
will initially publish translations of works from the Hanafi School and then
take up the works of the other schools.
Mr. G. M. Chaudhary is a highly qualified person with diversity in his educational qualifications. He is LL. M. in International Trade Law in addition to post-graduation qualifications in the fields of Taxation, Labour and Intellectual Property Laws. He has also completed one year course in Islamic Laws. He has got trainings and Certificates in International Humanitarian Laws, WTO General Principles and Laws in addition to participating in Training Programme at World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy’s General Course on Intellectual Property. He is also a Visiting Scholar, Global Intellectual Property Academy (GIPA), United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Commerce Department, Washington, D.C., USA.
In addition to his diverse qualifications in the fields of Law, he is Master in Business Administration (Finance). He has further diversified his intellectual horizon by acquiring Masters in Political Science, History and English. He had worked as College Professor and taught the subjects of Civics, History, Pakistan Studies, Plitical Science, Comparative Political Systems and Constitutions. He is also a Visiting Faculty Member of many professional Institutions, Colleges and Universities in addition to Government’s Professional Training Institutions imparting trainings to Government Officers. He is still teaching different subjects of Law and Politics at different professional and specialized institutions as a Visting Faculty Member.
He is delivering lectures as a guest speaker or visiting faculty member at Secretariat Training Institute, Islamabd, Customs Training Institute, Islamabad, and Commerce and Trade Training Institute, Islamabad, and sharing his knowledge with officers belonging to different Groups of the Civil Service of Pakistan. He is the pioneering trainer in the field of Legal, Legislative and Parliamentary Drafting and Process in Pakistan. He has designed different training programmes in Legislative Drafting, Bill Drafting and Parliamentary Drafting in addition to preparing Training Manuals for Legislative Drafting, Bill Drafting and Parliamentary Drafting.
He worked as an Assistant Draftsman in the Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights and assisted, coordinated and participated in legislative drafting and vetting process of many of laws, Rules, Regulations, Statutory Rules and Orders (S.R.Os.), Contracts and other legal instruments in addition to coordinating with the Secretariats of Parliament i.e. Senate and National Assembly Secretariats, in Parliamentary Business. He participated in the meetings of different Standing, Select, Special and other Committees of the National Assembly, Senate and Parliament and assisted in legal, constitutional and drafting matters during the legislative process.
He had, sometime, also worked as Deputy Director, Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan, and dealt different matters relating to Intellectual Property Rights and IPRs management. He is the person who had given the concept of institutionalization and integration of IP administration in Pakistan in his book titled “The Intellectual Property, Intellectual Property Laws in Pakistan and International Treaties on IPRs”.
He is a well-recognized researcher in the fields of law, governance, institutional and regulatory frameworks, legislative and parliamentary drafting. Presently, in addition to providing consultancy services in the field of law, he is also providing Legislative and Parliamentary Drafting being the firstever person in Pakistan as Parliamentary and Legislative Counsel associated with a law firm which is a pioneering firm in the fields of Legislative and Parliamentary Drafting in Pakistan and providing support services to Members of Provincial Assemblies, National Assembly and the Senate.
He has participated in so many national and international level Seminars, Conferences, Symposia, and other programmes, etc. He is the author and editor of more than fifteen books and many published Articles on different issues in Newspapers and Journals, etc. He is the member of many national and international professional organziations.
